Official
Opening – Act of State. The State of Sabotage (SoS) will embark on an official
state visit to the donaufestival 06 in Krems. During the Krems festival SoS
will temporarily establish an embassy in the form of a self-contained sofa
(Moni Emvasia, Greek for “sole entry”) with an official signpost in the city
park near the fairgrounds. During the official opening in the frame of the
festival opening, not only will the state anthem be intoned, but the ground
will be furnished with an “SoS Gate.” The Gate is a manhole cover emblazoned
with the SoS coat of arms – a symbol of state boundary shifting, new state
demarcation, and a sculpture by Robert Jelinek.
During the festival in Krems, the SoS Sofa will serve as a location for artistic
discussion and debate. Each day will be devoted to a discursive, socially
relevant topic, significant to the State as well as to the donaufestival.
Under the topical direction of Didi Neidhart as moderator, the Sofa will establish
itself as a venue for intellectual as well as artistic exchange – a kind of
“speakers’ corner” (see below for program).
The
embassy will remain open for the entirety of the festival during the listed
times. On April 30, Sabotage Square, together with its signpost, will be relocated
to the protective island below the Krems art mile and will continue to function
as a protected free zone of the State of Sabotage.
