The siren sounds reject all forms of musicality and get directly on your nerves. Nervous stimuli burrow new routes through your eardrum. All functions are impeded, so that you want out of your ear. The human ear is an organ of belonging together - it is equipped to remain open to the sonic world of one's own group. There, each being receives a specific tuning, a relatively sharp and selective bandwidth of the sonosphere of its respective group. The severing of this acoustic umbilical cord, through which each and every being is connected to its immediate environment, would be experienced by the same as an existential catastrophe, an acoustic end of the world. The sound displaces you to a state of restlessness, renders you simultaneously an attacker and target, and puts you under its spell. A kind of acoustic communism - Everyone hears the same from the first day onwards. Global popular music has reached a point where one would like to believe in a first music for the last (wo)man. It produces, potentially on every point of the planet, the same rhythmic and harmonic unification formulas between listeners. It establishes from every loudspeaker on the planet the same musical dictates, effects, phrases and tonal formulas. Seen in terms of missionary history, one could here speak of Christian evangelism being superceded by musical eutonism.

The ear, which on its own is the organ of credulous devotion to the mother tongue, the fatherland, the household muses, can be fooled by songs which sound more attractive than the own but which are, it seems, the music of a hostile principle.
